“There is plenty of room for you in my Father’s home. If that weren’t so, would I have told you that I’m on my way to get a room ready for you? And if I’m on my way to get your room ready, I’ll come back and get you so you can live where I live.” John 14:1-3, The Message.

I hear the excitement of the Son as He shares about the preparation that is being made for each of us who have chosen to make Him a part of our lives. He tells His disciples that His Father has a great big house, and in that house each of us have a room that is being made ready for us to live in. As if that’s not enough, Jesus is so excited He says He will return to get us and take us there. He doesn’t want to wait for us to find our way there, He wants to come get us so He can personally escort us directly there as soon as possible. I know how excited I am when I have a surprise for a family member or friend. I feel like I’m bursting; I can hardly wait for them to see what I’ve done for them because I care for them so much. He loves the one we’re wanting to surprise more than we do. So if we’re full to bursting, how excited Jesus must be! He doesn’t want to waste any time in getting us to the special place He has spent so long getting ready for us.

There’s a huge bonus beyond that; we also get to live there in this amazing mansion with Him. Forever and ever we’ll be able to worship Him with all our Brothers and Sisters (those that have also chosen Him as the One in charge of their lives). The more I contemplate this, I don’t know who is more excited, us or the One Who is planning all these incredible things! Now do you see it? That adds some spin to this passage, doesn’t it?

We don’t even have a clue how much He loves us. But it won’t be long and we’re going to find out! I know I’m more excited now than I was when I started writing this particular blog.

If I’m going to a party I want to be sure I’m prepared. I want to be fully rested, showered, have on clean clothes, my hair brushed, my teeth clean, and be promptly ready for my ride to pick me up. I also want to have a good attitude (I’ve noticed mine has been pretty stinky lately. There’s nothing that can squelch a party atmosphere worse than someone who is in a bad mood.) So if Jesus is excited about His plans for me, I should be, too…… Hmmmmm……..I sense more work needs to be done. Since I’m still here and not there at His house yet, it’s not my time yet. He’s not ready for me to leave here, and I’m not ready to be in His Presence. So Lord, I yield to Your timing and Your preparation of my attitudes as well as my room in Your mansion. Please come get me when You’re ready. I can hardly wait to see what You’ve been working on for so long!
