never alone

June 27, 2013

I needed a simple reminder today and thought you might, too. I Kings 18:1-39 is one of the greatest spiritual victories ever. This boiled down to Elijah versus 850 prophets of the popular idols of that time, the king that had pursued him for 3 years, plus the assembled people of the nation of Israel. I don’t like the sound of those odds. I can’t imagine how lonely that must have felt. Elijah had no support. He had no one to stand beside him. He had to be rock solid in his belief that God was indeed with him even though he couldn’t see Him physically. This is a visual picture to me that we are the majority if God is on our side. No person, addiction, or habit will ever be able to successfully block our progress. “If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” – Romans 8:31, NLT
