Psalm 107:20 (New English Translation NET)
“He sent them an assuring word and healed them;
he rescued them from the pits where they were trapped.”
We get trapped in pits of worry, despair (I just don’t know what’s going to happen”, “It’s so terrible, not even God can help”, “This world is in such awful shape, I just don’t know…..”), because we don’t see God answering in our way that we have figured out would be best. We don’t see Him doing what we want. And we simply don’t see Him in the picture of the future at all! If we did, we would have hope. We would see Him in the very middle of that picture just as the fourth person was in the midst of the fire with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He was right there with them and He will be right there with us. In fact, when they came out not a single thread of their clothing was even so much as singed, and they didn’t even smell like smoke! That’s incredible because the furnace was heated seven times hotter than what it normally took to incinerate a person! If God can do that once, He can do it again for us and for those we love.

A book that made a huge impact on my life, Of Whom the World Was Not Worthy by Marie Chapian, totally transformed my faith in our faithful God. It’s the story of Polish Christians during the World War II era when they were invaded and taken over by Nazi Germany. Even through one crisis after another, God showed up faithful. What do we have that even compares with having to run for your life because you preach about Jesus? These people lived in the woods, hid out wherever God led them. Through all of it He faithfully provided for them!  He does not show favoritism (see Acts 10:34 and Romans 2:11).  He took care of them. He will take care of us and all we’re concerned about. It doesn’t matter how huge of a problem we’re facing; He is bigger.  He is more than capable of providing a solution.  Period. We either believe it or we don’t.
