as usual, Jesus prayed

July 30, 2015

Luke 22:39, New Living Translation (NLT)

“Then, accompanied by the disciples, Jesus left the upstairs room and went as usual to the Mount of Olives.”

When Jesus was under pressure, He prayed.  He didn’t run to His friends and pour out His complaints, worries, or stress.  He didn’t ask them advice.  He talked to His Father.  We want to complicate things.  But what Jesus did was simple; He prayed.  Pray when you’re stressed.  Pray when worry comes on you.  Pray when you hear of a catastrophe.  Pray when God brings someone’s face or name to your mind.  We need to pray and not complain.  God wants us to stop worrying, to cast our care on Him, release those things to Him, and enter His rest.
