worship only One

November 21, 2016

“When I wipe you out,
I will put a cover over the heavens.
    I will darken the stars.
I will cover the sun with a cloud.
The moon will stop shining.” – Ezekiel 32:7, New International Reader’s Version (NIRV)

In verses 1-10 of the same chapter, God is talking to the Pharaoh of Egypt.  He is saying He will “cover the heavens and darken the stars;…cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon will not give its light,” when He snuffs the king out. (NIV used here.)

The ancient Egyptians worshiped many things, including their own Pharaoh, and the sun.  What I took for a personal application was that 1)  I should not think too much of myself, and 2) God is saying He can, might, and will get rid of whatever we look to and or worship, except Him.
