I love my Quest Study Bible!  I can personally almost guarantee there will be a gem, a hidden nugget, on every page.  The design of this study Bible is to answer questions, things that common, ordinary people wonder about when they read the Bible.  Here’s one: “Why did Jesus compare hypocrisy to yeast?”  This is found in the column next to Luke 12:1, quoted here from the New International Version. ““Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.”  There is more to the answer than I will give you here.  What I will say is a condensed version along with a direct quote that hit me between the eyes.  The nature of yeast is to expand just as evil does to corrupt a person, family, town, state, country, and on to the world.  My thoughts at this point are, “Okay, I get that, but I need more.”  Then at the end of the answer came this.  “…a little hypocrisy can spread through a person, contaminating his or her spiritual integrity.”  Ouch!  There’s the danger.  It starts small in one person.  Not his or her family, but one single person.  As a normal human being, my thoughts immediately went to other people I had known.  It explained what I had seen in their massive downfall.  Right away, the Holy Spirit cautioned me against judging.  At this point I looked carefully at myself and asked Him if there was any of that in me.  If He shows you any in your life, please agree with Him that you’ve been hypocritical when you ____________ (you fill in the blank with what He reminds you that you did).  Forgive yourself for that/those thing(s), then ask the Father to forgive you.  He will!

Start over fresh, living authentically with Him.
